Lorde Sets New Record With Platinum-Selling Hit "Royals" At Alternative Radio
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Republic Records) LORDE 's ubiquitous platinum-selling hit "Royals" has spent six weeks at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Chart, making for the longest run at the top for any female artist in history.

The previous record-holder was Alanis Morissette whose 1995 smash "You Oughtta Know" enjoyed a five-week reign on the 25-year-old chart. Moreover, this is the first time in 17 years, since Tracy Bonham's "Mother Mother", that a female artist has reached the top of Alternative Radio. In addition, the song's reign extends to AAA where it has remained at #1 for five weeks straight. During that time, it's entered the Top 10 of Top 40. The 16-year-old New Zealand phenomenon raised the bar for all acts to follow, but this is merely the start of her rise to musical royalty.

"Royals" more importantly lays the groundwork for the release of LORDE 's immensely anticipated debut, Pure Heroine , in stores September 30 through LAVA / Republic Records . With the pre-order already #11 on iTunes, the album promises to crown her as one of the new leaders of pop with its lithe melodies, wise vision, clever hooks, and immediate bounce.

Meanwhile, she has sold out the dates on her current upcoming U.S. tour, becoming one of the hottest tickets of the fall. There's nobody quite like LORDE .

Online, "Royals" reached the coveted #1 spot on HypeMachine , and it racked up over 9 million YouTube/VEVO views. She has received the endorsement of Pitchfork , Gorilla Vs. Bear , and Stereogum .

Placing the teen in league with Adele , The Civil Wars , Regina Spektor , and other leaders, VH1 has dubbed LORDE their "You Oughta Know" artist for September. It's a prestigious honor, heralding her arrival stateside as a trend-setter.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly called "Royals" "finger-snap addictive", Huffington Post exalted her as "the next queen of pop", and Vice described her best as "a talented teenage badass".

Last year, she took New Zealand by storm. Her self-released, The Love Club EP, garnered 60,000 downloads on Soundcloud and then proceeded to reach #1 on the country's top albums chart.

LORDE is just the heroine pop has been waiting for.
