LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Sticky Toffee PR) The bilingual Italian speaking artist and songwriter from Sheffield known as "NEM" recalls that his first interest in performing dates back to when he was a small child and modelled for United Colours of Benetton at the University of Sheffield where his mother was a student in the early 90's... ever since those first cheers from the crowd NEM has wanted to be on stage and eventually chose to express himself through his music, which tends to be characterised by storytelling and emotions rather than using punchlines or boasting on his tracks as most rappers would.
Having risen from Sheffield's eclectic music scene of Indie, Hiphop & Grime and taking elements from each of those genres he has merged them into a current commercial musical style while maintaining the same lyrical content littered with narratives, analyses and self-expression which are fundamental to NEM's love of music.
Over the last few during which he has been active as a recording artist NEM has performed at numerous events across the country as well as opening for various acts including many UK household names such as Chipmunk, Wiley, Lethal Bizzle, Example, Ironik, Skinnyman, Roll Deep, Bashy, Akala... as well as chart
Tinchy Stryder (for whom he has opened 7 times, including the last date of his UK tour at O2 Academy Sheffield on 8th October 2009).
NEM has received and continues to receive much support from the local media and music scene, having had his music played numerous times on BBC
Radio Sheffield amongst other stations such as Sine FM, Rother FM and Sheffield Live, as well as being interviewed and having his music reviewed by Sheffield's newspapers and music publications.
