New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Moths & Locusts official website) "Traveling between ethereal effervescence and mind bending sonic tsunamis, Mission Collapse in the Twin Sun Megaverse goes straight for the third eye and converts precious grey matter into a psychotropical fruit smoothie" - BC Musician Magazine, November, 2013
On November 26th, 2013 Nanaimo British Columbia's psychedelic rock heroes Moths & Locusts unveil their monumental debut album, Mission Collapse in the Twin Sun Megaverse. It is a massive statement; an epic collection of imaginative and compelling space rock.Presenting a sonic palette of super-heavy, riff-driven wig-outs, lush psych-folk, hypnotic instrumental explorations and reflective, dreamy interludes, Mission Collapse… is a neo-psychedelic cataclysm in the freeroaming spirit of such as Wooden Shjips or Animal Collective, yet draws on a vast array of influences way beyond the obvious.
The hard-gigging Moths & Locusts claim Boris, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, Motorhead, Stereolab, Sunn O))), The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Ramones, early Pink Floyd, Krautrock, deep electronica and visceral punk rock among the inspirations channelled into their majestic, emotionally impacting creations. Notable recent shows include opening for Rangda, wowing the freaks at Quadrapalooza and playing alongside the legendary Damo Suzuki of Can.
Following a 12" EP and two 7" 45s (one split with
Victoria band, The New Colors) of exclusive, non-album material released between October 2011 and March 2013, Mission Collapse… is released on the band's own NoiseAgonyMayhem Records as a gatefold vinyl LP, digital download and CD. The label has also issued
acclaimed vinyl only releases by Toronto rock outfit C'mon, Death Metal band Death Militia, and pop-punk duo, Bash Brothers.
Produced by the band, recorded by renowned engineer Jordan Koop of The Noise Floor, and mastered by Shellac's legendary Bob Weston (Assistant Engineer on Nirvana's In Utero), Mission Collapse… sounds as big as it is ambitious. With their fuzz pedals blazing Moths & Locusts are set to blow the minds of psych-rock fans the world over.
