Political Artist, Friend Slash Lover Delivers Eccentric New Single "Don't Retouch Me There"
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ LaFamos Press) Friend Slash Lover is an indie rock/pop project, that never fails to let their unique take on the world shine through in the music. As art meets politics, their result is always thought-provoking. The latest single "Don't Retouch Me There," takes listeners in a whole new direction. Strong commanding vocals and a melody inspired through artistic and political conversation show a diverse side to this Los Angeles based artist. Besides the obvious interpretation of the phrase "Don't Retouch Me There", the other layers of meaning twist and turn into an unlikely indie-pop anthem.

The initial inspiration for the song was driven from the natural artist that exists within FSL. Every Friend Slash Lover song contains an underlying current of commentary on the ways of society. From unhealthy relationships, to the obsession of perfection, FSL's lyrical masterpieces are far from cookie-cutter and hold a much stronger significance. To celebrate the last single "Hellthy", FSL held a fine art show that showcased innovative and quirky phrases of art. One of the most powerful phrases used was, "Don't Retouch Me There", which was etched onto a mirror. An art Director by day, FSL is no stranger to the amount of retouching done to make people appear perfect, despite the lack of realism. While in the studio with producer Justin Jagoda, the phrase continued to pop up throughout the session. As the writing process continued to develop, it became clear the phrase had more life to it and was the inspiration for the song. The development process of this song was much different than those in the past, as the vocals are the leading force in this tune.

Thanks to an art school education at Rhode Island School of Design, UC San Diego and years in advertising, FSL was able to actualize and fine-tune the talent within and watch the ideas come to life. The Connecticut native got his start in music in his early years playing in a drum corps marching band and winning state and national championships. "I was never cool. Marching bands were probably even one step below glee clubs on the cool scale." After having much of his work showcased in art galleries around the Los Angeles area, FSL decided to focus on his musical career. His first effort was As American as Ones and Zeros, which earned Friend Slash Lover a spot on Music Connection Magazine's Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists.

Devotion to art and an edgy sound, Friend Slash Lovers knows how to keep the attention of their growing fan base. With unique leading vocals and thought provoking lyrics, this is a single you don't want to miss out on.
