Dream Theater Earn Second Grammy Nomination, This Time For "Best Metal Performance" For "The Enemy Inside" From Their Current Self-Titled Worldwide Smash Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) DREAM THEATER 's spirit of adventure and fearless musical virtuosity continues to reap dividends for the progressive metal titans who've just earned their second Grammy nomination, this time for "Best Metal Performance " for their single "The Enemy Inside" from their current self-titled worldwide smash album on Roadrunner Records . The band- John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards & continuum) and Mike Mangini (drums)-received its first-ever Grammy nomination in 2012 for "On The Backs Of Angels" (from their A Dramatic Turn Of Events album) in the " Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category.

DREAM THEATER has expressed their excitement over the Grammy news in this group statement: "We are all incredibly honored and excited about being nominated for a Grammy this year! News of our first nomination two years ago was amazing and now to be nominated for a second time is just mind blowing! We're so proud to be included in such an awesome group of bands and extremely grateful to all the academy members who voted for us. To us the acknowledgment, affirmation and recognition of progressive music by the Grammys is especially meaningful and rewarding for us. Best of luck to all the nominees-and thank you once again!!"

The band's current DREAM THEATER album made a spectacular debut at #1 on Billboard 's "Hard Rock Albums" chart, while simultaneously entering at #7 on the overall Billboard 200 . This marks the acclaimed group's third consecutive top 10 debut , and also saw DREAM THEATER making top 5 chart debuts in Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Holland, and Finland , as well as top 10 debuts in Denmark, Austria, and Norway with career high debuts in the United Kingdom and Australia.

With founding guitarist John Petrucci producing and studio luminary Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush) engineering and mixing, DREAM THEATER marks a brilliant new chapter for the band. Rolling Stone touted the collection as "…the birth of a new era in the band's career," while Loudwire exclaimed that "Dream Theater pushes the envelope into (a) new musical dimension, a cosmic realm reserved for the best."

DREAM THEATER will tour in support of the new album, visiting 30 cities in 16 countries . The tour starts in Europe January 15 and runs through March 2 , including two shows in Russia . Next, the band will tour North America beginning in March -full details will be announced soon.

About DREAM THEATER:
With total sales exceeding 10 million albums and DVDs worldwide, Dream Theater have long stood among the upper echelon of hard rock giants.
Albums such as 1992's RIAA gold-certified classic "IMAGES & WORDS" (featuring the breakthrough top 10 single, "Pull Me Under") have earned the Long Island, NY-based band countless accolades for their visionary synthesis of melodic power and virtuosic experimentation, including being named as one of Rolling Stone 's top 10 "Best Prog Rock Bands of All time."
They formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy.
Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together, along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess, until September 2010, when Mike Portnoy exited the band. In October 2010, Dream Theater held auditions for a new drummer, and added drummer extraordinaire Mike Mangini to its roster.
