The Tragically Hip rock (and help) their hometown

KINGSTON, ONTARIO, Canada (Zoe Records ) - Canadian rockers The Tragically Hip played to an estimated 25,000 at a benefit show in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario this past Sunday, September 12th. As part of the biggest show in the city's history, The Hip headlined a bill that day which also included special guests Matthew Good, The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, The Sadies, James McKenty & The Spades, Chris Koster, and The Trews.
The day-long event, held at the Royal Military College in Kingston, was hosted by Dan Aykroyd (who also hails from Kingston). The Hip's searing set was made even more exciting when Aykroyd joined them onstage to play harmonica on one of their encore songs, "Locked In The Trunk Of A Car."

Dubbed "Across The Causeway," the concert was conceived to benefit the entire Kingston community with proceeds going to The Community Foundation of Greater Kingston, the Joe Chithalen Musical Instrument Lending Library and Camp Trillium. The Community Foundation of Greater Kingston, which acts as a vehicle to connect donors with organizations that are committed to strengthening and enhancing the quality of life in the community. As a locally-run public foundation, it helps identify the current and urgent needs in Greater Kingston, and responds through leadership and grantmaking to address those needs.

The Tragically Hip are scheduled to begin their 30-city U.S. tour this Sunday (September 18th) in Detroit at the Fox Theatre. As a band known well and perhaps loved best for their live shows, the legendary live act has been making vibrant, gritty rock ën roll for over 20 years and has also sold over 6 million albums worldwide. The Hip will be touring in support of their latest album, In Between Evolution, which was released on June 29th on ZoÎ/Rounder Records. The album was produced by Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam).
