NASHVILLE, TN. (Rogers & Cowan for TRICK PONY) - Hot country supergroup TRICK PONY has recently been added to the line-up of the annual Farm Aid benefit concert 2004, returning once again to support America's farmers on Saturday,
September 18 at the White River Amphitheatre on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation in Auburn, WA, just outside of Seattle. TRICK PONY, who recently received a CMA nomination for "Vocal Group of the Year," will perform alongside Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Steve Earle and
Lucinda Williams among others.
"We are honored to return and support the Farm Aid organization," says TRICK PONY vocalist
Heidi Newfield. "The organization's consistent good works effect us all as a nation."
Guitarist Keith
Burns adds: "We are happy to do whatever we can to support America's farmers. You call us, and we'll be there."
The first Farm Aid benefit concert was organized in 1985 by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise much-needed funds to help farm families maintain their land. The organization to date has raised $26 million to promote and sustain a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture.
TRICK PONY is riding high with the success of their current, hot single "The Bride," which includes a popular music video that features KISS rocker Gene Simmons as a Vegas preacher and 70's cultural icon John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) as the groom. The group is currently working on their forthcoming CD, entitled R.I.D.E. (Curb/Asylum Records).
TRICK PONY earned a Grammy nomination in 2003 for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for "Just What I Do" and have been awarded the 2002 Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Vocal Duo/Group, along with the 2002 American Music Award's honor for "Favorite New Country Artist." The group was also crowned R&R's "Breakout Artist of the Year." For more information on TRICK PONY, please visit www.trickpony.com. For more information on Farm Aid, please visit www.farmaid.org.
