NASHVILLE, TN. (Lost Highway Records) - Lost Highway recording artist Tift Merritt is set to embark on a headlining tour in support of her highly praised "Tambourine" (August 24). The tour, which will kick off on September 22, will include a stop at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on October 1 and at The Abbey in Chicago on October 8.

"Tambourine," Merritt's second album on Lost Highway Records, includes 12 new tracks, 11 written by Merritt. The North Carolina native combines the elements of rock, soul, country and blues with her honest and engaging vocals to create an invigorating album complete with a classic, soulful sound, as heard on tracks such as "Good Hearted Man," "Shadow In The Way" and "Your Love Made A U-Turn."

"Tambourine" has already received high praise from Vanity Fair, People, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, Esquire, Tracks, NY Daily News and LA Daily News, just to name a few.

"Merritt's voice is a magical combination of cool reserve and effortless warmth ... " (Grade: A-) - Entertainment Weekly

"With her clear, controlled voice and zestful, sensual delivery, Tift Merritt deserves to move from the fringes of stardom onto the A list of country-rockers thanks to this joy of an album... " (3-1/2 Stars, out of 4) - People

"There's not a dud among the dozen tracks, a testament to Merritt's talent as both a distinctive singer and writer." - Rolling Stone

"... Stax-style R&B tunes complete with slinky horns and sultry background singers. If you're picturing Dusty Springfield fronting Creedence Clearwater Revival, you're right ... " - Esquire

"Tambourine" was produced by George Drakoulias (Black Crowes, The Jayhawks, Tom Petty) and features an all-star group of guest musicians, including Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Maria McKee (Lone Justice), Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Steve Gorman (Black Crowes) and Robert Randolph.
