AT&T 28 Days: The Next Generation Of History Makers By Mc Lyte, Hip Hop Pioneer
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ AT&T) When I became one of the first female hip-hop artists, I didn't know that I would be making history. I simply wanted to use my voice to inspire and motivate others. I have dedicated my career to being true to myself, humbled by my fans, and creating a positive impact in my community. That's what making history is all about.

Black History Month offers an opportunity to honor the legacy of those whose achievements have made this world a better place. And what better way to honor our past than to make history happen through service in our community?

This month, that is exactly what I am doing with the AT&T 28 Days program. People may remember AT&T 28 Days as an empowerment speaker series, featuring celebrities and thought leaders. This year, the program has evolved into a month-long community service challenge. Twelve motivated individuals from around the country have been selected to show the world what happens when you dedicate 28 days to service in the community. Olympic Gold Medalist Sanya Richards-Ross , tech guru Wayne Sutton and I have teamed up to serve as mentors for these three groups of visionaries. Each week, they are completing challenges to empower girls, inspire youth, and educate the community. They are supporting the organizations WriteGirl, the Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center, and the Austin Area Urban League Young Professionals, to make a vital impact in their communities.

Each team is earning points for completing weekly challenges and building awareness for their cause across their social media networks. The team with the most points at the end of the month wins $20,000 , with each winning team member being awarded $5,000 , for making history happen in the community.

So how are you making history happen? How are you making a difference in the community this Black History Month?

Join our challenge. Start by supporting the three AT&T 28 Days teams. Follow their progress at att.com/28days , and share what the teams are doing on social media with the hashtags #28DaysWriteGirl, #28DaysODALC and #28DaysAAULYP.

I hope that you are inspired to go out and make a difference in the community too. Make sure you enter the AT&T 28 Days Fan Challenges. A new challenge is announced each Monday during the month of February at att.com/28days, and you could win cool prizes from Samsung.

Together, we can become the next generation of history makers. To learn more about AT&T 28 Days, go to att.com/28days , and follow the hashtag #ATT28Days on Twitter.
