The Van Burens Release 'Presidential Lovefest' EP
Boston, MA (Top40 Charts) Boston-area rock.funk.prog.reggae.dance.party band the Van Burens are releasing their sophomore (and sometimes sophomoric) EP 'Presidential Lovefest' with a kick-off show at Wonder Bar in Allston Wednesday, February 12th. The new EP is a high-energy blend of genres and styles filtered through the Van Burens' humorous, ironic pop culture sensibility. Named for the obscure, mutton-chopped 8th President of the United States, the VB's take their American history theme to great musical heights on the new record, with songs like the 80's reggae-infused "Reagan", the 60's funk stomper "Tricky Dick", the rock opera "LBJ", and a cheerful dance-hall sockhop number about assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. Says bassist/singer Emmett "McGee" Knox "if all the ballers from history got together for a backyard funboy kegger blowout, this EP would be the soundtrack to the All-American party." Listen to sneak peek EP tracks "Tricky Dick" and "Reagan" on the band's BandCamp site.

Hailing from "the City of Presidents" Quincy, MA, the Van Burens have been bringing their signature electric, eclectic sound to Boston, New England, and beyond since 2008, when time-traveling ex-President founded a musical act dedicated to life, liberty, and the pursuit of funkiness. Their first release, the 'Eager EP' in early 2010, was followed up by a national tour that found the VBs in LA, San Fran, Chicago, and all across these United States. The VBs always set out to bring a unique experience to every show, their constantly fluctuating set lists and lively sense of humor plays across a backdrop of booty-shaking grooves, group harmonies, and progressive songwriting. "'Presidential Lovefest' captures both our fun live set and our meticulous studio sound; it's a dance record you can hear a thousand times and always find something new," says drummer/singer Matt "Papa Bear" Spitz.

'Presidential Lovefest' was recorded at Q Division Studios in Somerville and mixed at MoBro studios in Bridgeport, CT. The album, featuring vibrant artwork from Caleb Williamson, will drop on Wednesday 2.12.14, available on the Van Burens' website , on iTunes, or at the Van Burens' EP release tour .
