New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Steve Cooke official website) Los Angeles' resident singer-songwriter Steve Cooke recently released his rendition of Sam Cooke's classic hit.
Fifty years ago today in Los Angeles (02/07/64), Sam Cooke was busy recording his song for RCA and preparing for a live performance of the track a week later on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.
Sam Cooke's Tonight Show performance of " A Change Is Gonna Come" is still 'lost' to this day, and any impact it could have had was eclipsed by The Beatles' history-making appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show just two days later.
Steve Cooke performs " A Change Is Gonna Come" to honor the Master of Soul's legacy and to celebrate his 50th anniversary year.
"Sam Cooke was only 33 years old when he was shot to death and if the Beatles hadn't taken the spotlight, maybe he would be as big as Elvis? Positivity is contagious. It's also courageous and praised in Gospel music. I hope my interpretation resonates with today's audience the same way it did back in '64", said Steve.
