Univision Wows Audiences With Glittering Night Of Great Music And Top Talent At "Premio Lo Nuestro 2014"
MIAMI, FL (Top40 Charts) The 26 th Annual Edition of "Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina" (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards), telecast LIVE tonight on the Univision Network, delivered three hours of extraordinary entertainment with 19 knockout musical productions and dozens of internationally famous stars gracing the stage as performers or award presenters. The longest running and most popular Latin music awards show in the U.S., "Premio Lo Nuestro" is also the preeminent Latin music "people's choice" award, as all of the night's winners were elected directly by fans through votes cast on www.PremioLoNuestro.com.

Crossover megastar Marc Anthony was this year's biggest winner, taking home four awards including the all-important Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year in the Tropical category. Close behind were regional Mexican singer/songwriter Gerardo Ortiz , the late "Queen of Banda" Jenni Rivera , and bachata royalty Prince Royce , with three awards each. Ortiz was elected Artist of the Year in both Regional Mexican and Norteño categories, as well as winning Regional Mexican Song of the Year with his hit "Sólo Vine a Despedirme"; Rivera won in two very different music genres, her usual Regional Mexican and also Pop, where she was honored as Female Artist of the Year; and Royce walked away with the ceremony's top honor, "Premio Lo Nuestro" Artist of the Year, in addition to two Tropical trophies. Among other winners of "Premio Lo Nuestro" 2014 are 3BallMTY, America Sierra, El Dasa, Jessy & Joy, Marco Antonio Solís, Olga Tañón, Pitbull, Romeo Santos, Thalía , and Tito El Bambino .

This year's "Premio Lo Nuestro" ceremony took place on a truly spectacular art deco-inspired stage with multicolored neon lights and multiple giant screens, which was constantly transformed to provide a unique backdrop for each different musical number. The audience was treated to a nonstop display of amazing talent as many of Latin music's biggest names took the stage throughout the show. After a rhythm-packed opening by Puerto Rican recording artist Victor Manuelle , who debuted a new salsa tune created especially for "Premio Lo Nuestro," world-famous pop icon Enrique Iglesias premiered two new singles from his upcoming album, due out next month. The Spanish-born hit-maker was joined onstage by two other superstars, the hugely successful Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solís and global techno-rapping phenomenon Pitbull , to perform first-ever collaborations that gave fans a bilingual double whammy of fresh new music, taking them from the melodious sounds of the romantic ballad "El Perdedor" directly into the high-energy beat of the English-language dance tune "I'm a Freak."

Additionally, "Premio Lo Nuestro" 2014 presented several other premieres. Pop sensation Jencarlos Canela debuted his newest single, "Irreparable"; acclaimed singer/songwriter Luis Fonsi made the worldwide TV premiere of "Corazón en la Maleta," which was launched last Tuesday on Univision's exclusive music service, Uforia; Marco Antonio Solís introduced his newest romantic creation, "De Mil Amores"; bachata star Romeo Santos performed his latest hits, "Odio" and "Propuesta Indecente," live on stage for the very first time in the U.S., while another bachata idol, Prince Royce , also debuted his single "Te Robaré"; two reggaeton superstars, Yandel and Daddy Yankee , appeared together on stage for the first time ever singing their current hit, "Moviendo Caderas"; Daddy Yankee also performed solo, debuting his newest song, the catchy "La Nueva y la Ex," in a lively production featuring a chorus of sensual dancers and a dazzling display of lights.

In one of the broadcast's most memorable moments, Marc Anthony added a very special award to the other four he won tonight— Premio a la Excelencia (Excellence Award), the greatest honor bestowed by "Premio lo Nuestro." He received this coveted award in recognition of his impressive career as one of Latin music's most successful artists as well as a crossover star with numerous English-language hits. With over 12 million albums sold worldwide, Marc Anthony received his first "Premio Lo Nuestro" in 1994 for New Tropical Artist of the Year and has won 22 to date, counting tonight's, which makes him the male soloist with the most "Premio Lo Nuestro" awards ever. He has also received numerous other top music honors including GRAMMY ® and Latin GRAMMY ® Awards. Moments before receiving the Premio a la Excelencia from Pitbull, the international megastar brought the house down and got everyone out of their seats with a powerful rendition of one of his greatest hits, "Tu Amor me Hace Bien," followed by the recent blockbusters "Cambio de Piel" and "Vivir Mi Vida," voted Tropical Song of the Year 2014.

Daddy Yankee was also the recipient of a special award tonight, the Premio Ídolo de la Juventud (Youth Idol Award). Presented for the first time this year at "Premio Lo Nuestro", this new recognition was given to the Urban star for his enormous appeal among Latin youth and his impressive success in the Latin music industry, which took off in 2004 with his groundbreaking reggaeton, "Gasolina," now a classic in the genre.

Other musical highlights included a celebration of Mexican pop-rock queen Alejandra Guzmán 's 25 year career. Following a video recap of her many achievements in the Latin music industry, the star gave a soulful rendition of her latest hit, the rock ballad "Mi Peor Error," on a haunting set virtually transformed into a frozen living room looking out a dim, snowy day. Additional musical numbers delivered crowd-pleasing performances by Banda el Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga , Gerardo Ortiz, Gloria Trevi, J Balvin, Pepe Aguilar , and Voz de Mando , one of today's most popular regional Mexican music groups. And closing the "Premio Lo Nuestro" show with a resounding explosion of Latin rhythm, the powerhouse group "Los Gigantes de la Salsa" (Salsa Giants) filled the venue with the contagious beat of drums, bongos, and timbales, getting the crowd dancing and cheering as nine of the world's biggest and most renowned salsa artists - Charlie Zaa, Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda, José Alberto "El Canario," Nora, Oscar de León, Sergio George, Tito Nieves, and Willy Chirino - performed a once-in-a-lifetime medley of some of the genre's timeless hits.

Hosted by Ninel Conde and William Levy, "Premio Lo Nuestro" 2014 featured numerous Hispanic celebrities as award presenters, including: telenovela stars Altair Jarabo, Ana Brenda Contreras, Ariadne Díaz, Elizabeth Alvarez, Jorge Salinas, and Marjorie de Sousa; film star Diogo Morgado; famous music artists 3Ball MTY, Chino y Nacho, El Dasa, Fanny Lu, Frankie J, Gretchen, J. Alvarez, La Santa Cecilia, Montez de Durango, Noel Torres, and Tommy Torres; Chiquis Rivera, daughter of the late Jenni Rivera; Puerto Rican actress and former Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera; and popular Univision personalities Argelia Atilano, Barbara Bermúdez, Chiquinquirá Delgado, Enrique Santos, Pamela Silva Conde, Pedro Moreno and Raúl Brindis. In addition, breakout pop teen star Austin Mahone and Diego Luna, actor and director of the upcoming and already very talked-about film, "Cesar Chavez," made special appearances.

Prior to the awards ceremony, Univision presented a LIVE Arrivals Carpet Special covering the stars' grand entrances and featuring extensive fashion commentary.
