The Alvin brothers founded The Blasters in 1979, and they soon emerged to international fame, performing with everyone from X and
Black Flag to The Cramps and Queen. The brothers went their separate ways in 1986, when Dave left the band to pursue a solo career. After Phil Alvin had a health scare in 2012, it inspired the two to reunite. In Dave's own words: "We argue sometimes, but we never argue about Big Bill Broonzy."
