New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ MediaLine Communications) The All American Rejects have been announced as the headliners for Lyme Light: The Concert (www.lymelightconcert.com) - a special one night event to raise funds for Lyme Disease awareness and development of an accurate diagnostic tool. The concert, also featuring
Youngblood Hawke, among other indie rock favorites, will take place at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. PDT. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online. Proceeds will benefit the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance.
"There is no reason anyone else should have to suffer with Lyme Disease the way I did," said
Natalie London, lead singer of Hey, King! and mastermind of the event. "It left me bedridden for over three years while I fought to regain even the simplest functions - walking, talking, reading, writing, even my memory. People need to understand the risks of late/misdiagnosis. Education and public awareness is our greatest tool in this fight."
The All American Rejects will perform a special acoustic set in advance of their headlining gig at the Slam Dunk Festival Tour of the UK later in May. Joining the band for the evening's musical lineup are
Youngblood Hawke, In the Valley Below, The Lonely Wild,
Aaron Embry and London's band Hey, King! A number of surprise appearances by other celebrities from the worlds of television, film and music are also planned.
London's forthcoming memoir, Lyme Light, will also be available for the first time to the general public at the event. The book details London's own experiences with Lyme Disease and how pop culture helped her heal. Its dryly honest narrative is winning advance praise from critics and celebrities alike and has served to reunite former castmates from shows such as Roseanne and Beverly Hills 90210 in order to help the cause. Natasha Lyonne, star of "Orange is the New Black," has recorded the narrative for the audiobook version. Roseanne Barr calls
Natalie London's journey a "fascinating story about acceptance, survival, and determination."
