Alt Rock Soloist Drew Davies Releases We Need To Talk EP!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) London-based rock soloist Drew Davies has released his EP We Need To Talk on 22nd November via AD1. The EP was mixed by Steve Honest (Oasis, Eurythmics) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Super Furry Animals). Davies has been featured by the likes of Clash Magazine, Atwood Magazine, Music Week, Music News and Pure Grain Audio amongst others. He has seen radio play from BBC Introducing London with Gary Crowley, BBC Radio York's Introducing with Jericho Keys, BBC Wales, Radio X, Planet Rock, and as a previous member of The Mercy House, the band saw support from Kerrang, Classic Rock Magazine, Metal Hammer, MTV and BBC Radio 6 and Radio X. He has toured extensively in the UK and Europe, and played Download Festival, London's Scala and the iconic Troubadour.

Hailing from South Yorkshire, Davies comes from a long line of singers and musicians. He has spent the better part of the last decade working in musical collaborations, writing for other artists and singing in session gigs to get by. Through successes, setbacks and everything in between, he has poured himself into his musical labours, and has now produced his most personal work to date.

Pulling from a wide array of influences, Drew Davies is inspired by everything from 50's rock n' roll to electronica, citing acts such as The National, Scott Walker, Vangelis and Tom Petty. From this palette of familiar reference points, he has created a genre-bending and timeless sound that bears semblance to the likes of Sam Fender, Future Islands, and The War On Drugs.

We Need To Talk features four tracks of Davies trademark baritone gliding through rich, textured musical arrangements. 'Mrs Taylor' sees him display his impressive vocal polish against brilliantly executed songwriting hooks. 'Man On The Run' with it's pulsating beat, builds through its verses into an uplifting chorus carrying the listener through a lyrical journey much darker in content than the music would have one believe at first. 'Beautiful World' speaks of our current socio-political issues, the instrumental arrangement coupling dramatic saxophone with vintage synthesizers, while 'Living The Dream' with its tongue in cheek lyrics, is a commentary on living life your own way.

Davies gives some insight into the EP: "We Need To Talk came about because of the themes in each song. It's all about communication; 'Man on the Run' is about hurt feelings from a lack of communication and 'Living the Dream' was about love through close communication. With 'Mrs Taylor' I hadn't spoken to my oldest friend in maybe 5 years when I heard of his mother's passing and with 'Beautiful World' I just feel that so many of the divisions in our country could be bridged if we just talked and listened to each other, instead of choosing to shout each other down. We Need To Talk felt like an appropriate title. After starting to release music in just March this year I wanted to put all of my songs in one place as an appropriate bookend to the year before taking on 2020."
