SAN JOSE, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Battle Of The Bands) - The Dystrict, one of San Francisco Bay Area's top Female Fronted Alternative Rock Bands has won the Mix 106.5 FM Battle of the Bands '07 competition at Raging Waters Theme Park, located in San Jose, California. The Dystrict receives the prize of opening for major recording artists, Brandi Carlile on July 26th and Mandy Moore on August 16th at San Jose's most anticipated summer concert series, Music in the Park.

On Saturday, June 30th, The Dystrict competed against five other locally based bands, each showcasing a 10 to 15-minute set of their best material. The Dystrict was selected by a panel of judges for the coveted slot of opening for Brandi Carlile and Mandy Moore.

We're so excited to have won this competition,' says lead singer, Sayo. 'We've only been playing together for a short time and this kind of event really becomes a great validator and a huge stepping stone for us. We can't wait to share our music with Music in the Park fans!'

Though The Dystrict has a steady stream of summer performance dates around the Bay Area and Sacramento, the band is expecting this event to be the biggest that they've played to-date.

Ed, lead guitarist, agrees. 'Our album is releasing at the end of the summer, so we're hoping to give the Music in the Park audience a taste of what's to come. We'll have bunch of free stuff to give out and we'll have a record ready sample of the music for the audience to take home with them. It's perfect timing.'

The Dystrict will be performing on Thursday, July 26th and Thursday, August 16th at 5:30pm at Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park, located at Market and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free. Other complements include a beverage garden and free parking downtown San Jose, after 6pm. For More information, visit www.sjdowntown.com

Metro Music in the Park is presented by Dos Equis beer. Sponsors include: Mix 106.5, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, PW Markets, T48 Telemundo, NBC11, el Observador, 98.1 Kiss FM, 102.9 KBLX, 104.5 KFOG, 98.5 KFOX.
