Indie/Alternative Artist VanDeRocker Takes Off With New Single "Fly"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Indie-alternative artist, VanDeRocker, released her latest single, "Fly" off of the debut album, Jupiter's Kiss. Packed with classic electric guitar licks and doo-wop harmonies, the track recalls the infectious punk influences of acts like The Violent Femmes and Berlin with a modern twist. "Fly" is now available on iTunes.

Produced by Ryan Staples and Adrienne VanDeRocker, "Fly" is both a call to arms for liberation from shallow conventions, as well as a love letter to new wave pop-rock. Hitting the ground running with a head-bopping beat and captivating fuzzy guitar shreds, the song is supported by backing vocals reminiscent of The B-52s. With an undeniable hook, "Fly" is filled with high energy and a feisty temperament akin to Blondie, as lead singer, Adrienne VanDeRocker chants, "Need to fly, I don't know how to keep my feet on the ground. Try to walk but float so high, must need to be in the sky." Individuality from mainstream views is a key concept in this single. "It's important to free yourself from the shackles of all the triviality going on in the world," Adrienne VanDeRocker comments. "This song is simply about the need to rise above and choosing dharma over drama." VanDeRocker recruited top-notch musicians to record "Fly," including Tim Pierce (Bon Jovi, Rick Springfield) on guitar, Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction, Alanis Morissette) on bass, and Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Soundgarden) on drums. While clearly indicating influences from punk and new wave, "Fly," maintains an electric energy that is absolutely timeless.

Growing up in Austin, Texas, Adrienne VanDeRocker first began playing music with the piano as she was raised in a family of classical musicians. Though at a young age, she felt truly inspired hearing the music of Bowie, Prince and particularly Kate Bush. She spent the better part of her adolescence sneaking into bars to play with her sister's band and found that her heart was truly in rock and roll. After exploring various aspects of the performance art scene in Seattle and New York, Adrienne VanDeRocker moved to Los Angeles where she formed her band, VanDeRocker. Recently, their song, "Cupid's Sting" was licensed by AT&T for commercial use. The band has played throughout legendary Los Angeles venues such as The Roxy, The Viper Room and House of Blues.

With a carefree vibe that recalls the spirit of The Go-Go's, "Fly" is a refreshing burst of rock and roll energy that separates VanDeRocker from the slow and withdrawn sound of so many other bands. "Fly" is the first single off of VanDeRocker's debut album, Jupiter's Kiss and is now available on iTunes. To learn more about the further adventures of VanDeRocker, check out VanDeRocker.com!
