New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Jumping straight into an punchy, rolling bass line, KinZie's new single "Heavy Head" grabs listeners with a series of infectious hooks. Leading with a burst of indie rock and punk energy, the
Alabama based trio build a sonically addictive and catchy track. "Heavy Head" comes off their upcoming debut album Dead Eyes, due out on July 19, providing a delicious taste of what's to come. New Noise Magazine premiered the track earlier this week, saying, "the song pumps out a bass line that grooves with authority. Guitars scream and echo above, with vocals matching with a frantic energy."
"This is song has been in our catalog the longest and perfect sums up the best parts of our overall sound - raucous, but catchy," shared vocalist/guitarist Phillip Ori. "It's a song about anxiety. The protagonist suffers with extreme anxiety and takes medication to deal. The song talks about the one day the protagonist forgot to take their medication."
The track provides a glimpse into the chaos of unchecked anxiety, yet also remans incredibly relatable and accessible on a number of levels. "And I'm sick / and I'm tired / of the same old shit / this stress gets me / down, defeated / dead," sings Ori; reflecting on the circular pattern of stress, found so often in everyday modern life. "This was the first song to be written and one of the shortest to record on the album," shared Ori. "The band wanted this to lead the album to hit home the theme of the album - emotional validation on your values and feelings."
Dipping into a variety of sonic elements, KinZie pull from indie-rock roots and punk energy, but also provide nods to jazz-punk, hardcore, mathcore, and various other sub-genres, for an intricate yet raw performance. The band has been active on the Birmingham music scene for a number of years, sharing the stage with acts including Screaming Females and Night Beats. Dead Eyes, due out July 19, comes as their debut full-length. It can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp, and physical CDs will be available after release.
"Heavy Head" is available and the band's previous single "Heart Torn Apart" are both available for stream and purchase on Bandcamp today. The full album will be available for stream and purchase on all major retailers on July 19th.
