Jail Guitar Doors Returns To Rock Out 5! With Moby And Benmont Tench At The Ford Theatres On September 28, 2019
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) A once-in-a-lifetime set by Moby with his band at the Ford Theatres to benefit Jail Guitar Doors (JGD-USA) happens on Saturday, September 28th at 8pm. The annual concert tradition is thriving with this all-star line-up including very special guest Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Moby's performance will include a combination of originals - even mega-hits like "Natural Blues" and "We Are All Made of Stars" could find their way into the set - in combination with specially selected covers you would only construct in your wildest dreams. In other words, anything can happen including guests who, in past years have included Duff McKagan, Don Was, Bobcat Goldthwait -- and at ROCK OUT, it does!

The night opens with the Soledad Jazz Workshop with Detroit's "Vibes from The Tribe" trombone legend Phil Ranelin together with pianist Jack Bowers and Wesley Haye. Emceed by LA's former poet laureate Luis Rodriguez. Host Wayne Kramer glides skillfully throughout all sets and does a few of his own, too.

Both VIP and General Admission tickets are available here: ROCK OUT! for Jail Guitar Doors.

"Moby is no stranger to justice reform. He has called for a reduction in incarcerated populations around the world and he supports meaningful change in the way men, women, and children - mostly of color - are treated in this country," notes MC5 lead guitarist and JGD-USA co-founder Wayne Kramer. "It's just a plus for us all that he and his band rock the house and rattles its bones!"

"Justice reform isn't a radical notion," explains Moby. "Even in our current reality, it's primarily a bi-partisan effort. So, I'm thrilled to have an excuse to get the band together for Brother Wayne's charity event." Moby also mentions, "A majority of the American people want this reform, especially as it relates to drug offenders, so let's put the money we raise on September 28th to good use by applying it to those prisoners fervently looking for positive change."

In its 10th year, Kramer's nonprofit organization Jail Guitar Doors (which he co-founded with wife Margaret Saadi Kramer and fellow musician Billy Bragg) celebrates at the Ford Theatres in keeping with its tagline as "the loudest charity on planet earth." JGD-USA's mission is to aid in the rehabilitation of prisoners by providing musical instruments and organizing music programs at prisons, jails, and juvenile camps across the country. To date, JGD-USA has a presence in a stunning 143 facilities across the United States, with dozens more to participate by year's end.

Since its inception in 2009, Jail Guitar Doors has been on the front line, lobbying against unjust lengthy prison sentences and the privatization of prisons for profit, and has been actively seeking to restore humanity in a forgotten segment of our youth citizenry — the incarcerated.
