New Film Podcast, Double Exposure, Pits Movie Versus Movie From Minneapolis/St. Paul
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) From St. Paul's Midway neighborhood comes the new Twin Cities based film podcast Double Exposure. The schtick is simple: Every other week, a guest joins hosts Chris Zumski Finke and Courtney Algeo in the studio to discuss two movies that have a common human element, director, actor or writer. After an interview with the guest, the gang compares movie vs. movie using a goofy rubric to learn about the artist under examination.

Double Exposure launched with Go 96.3 DJ and Rogue Valley singer Linnea Mohn. The roster of guests so far includes Meet Me Here novelist Bryan Bliss and ClassicalMPR and MPR's The Current contributor Jay Gabler. Scheduled guests range from local Minneapolis-based writers (Bao Phi), to LA-based comedians (Mary Iampietro/Zach Broussard) to international activists and celebrities (Indonesian novelist and activist Alanda Kariza).

"We were looking for a new kind of film podcast and a new way to talk about the movies," Courtney said. "There are so many actors and directors and writers. So many movies trying to carve out a niche and leave their mark on the world. It's admirable. But what is everyone really trying to do? And is it working? Of course, it's impossible to really judge based on just two films. But, it's fun to try. Plus, now we know more about Michael Douglas than we ever thought we would."

Double Exposure is sponsored by Trylon Microcinema. The Trylon is Minnesota's first micro cinema, with just 50 seats. Trylon shows classic films and hidden gems that audiences might never get another chance to see in the theater. Their generous sponsorship has supported Double Exposure's launch, and helped it reach the widest audience possible. Though only four episodes have aired so far, each one has surpassed the listenership of the previous show.

Courtney Algeo and Christopher Zumski Finke co-host Double Exposure. Courtney is the former editorial director of Paper Darts, and has written about pop culture for a number of outlets online. Chris is the creator of TheStake.Org and reports for Seattle-based Yes! Magazine. Both are pop culture aficionados and film buffs. Together, with the help of their guests, they will bring their journalism experience and love of movies to the Double Exposure studio, ready to grapple with the work of filmmakers from masterclass artists to schlocky hucksters.
