Double Exposure. The schtick is simple: Every other week, a guest joins hosts Chris Zumski Finke and Courtney Algeo in the studio to discuss two movies that have a common human element, director, actor or writer. After an interview with the guest, the gang compares movie vs. movie using a goofy rubric to learn about the artist under examination.
Double Exposure launched with Go 96.3 DJ and Rogue Valley singer Linnea Mohn. The roster of guests so far includes Meet Me Here novelist Bryan Bliss and ClassicalMPR and MPR's The Current contributor Jay Gabler. Scheduled guests range from local Minneapolis-based writers (Bao Phi), to LA-based comedians (Mary Iampietro/Zach Broussard) to international activists and celebrities (Indonesian novelist and activist Alanda Kariza).
"We were looking for a new kind of film podcast and a new way to talk about the movies," Courtney said. "There are so many actors and directors and writers. So many movies trying to carve out a niche and leave their mark on the world. It's admirable. But what is everyone really trying to do? And is it working?
