Resenting The 41st Annual Uncle Dave Macon Days
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Uncle Dave Macon Days, a roots rendezvous which honors traditional American music and the career of the first superstar of the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Famer, Uncle Dave Macon. This year marks the 41st Anniversary of the annual Uncle Dave Macon Days festival starting with small beginnings which attracted only a few old-time music enthusiasts on the lawn of the Courthouse in 1978.

Throughout the festival's national competitions is the best in authentic old-time music and dance with participants here locally, across the nation, and worldwide. This epic event starts Friday, July 13 and continues through Saturday, July 14, 2018.

Uncle Dave Macon Day is forward thinking! It doesn't get any better than this... "To stroll through a reconstructed pioneer village with a cold lemonade, listening to the warm harmonies on the porches and under the trees near the banks of Town Creek in Cannonsburgh Village while experiencing the best of roots music on the main stages."

Uncle Dave Macon Days spreads the love of authentic roots music in a unique way on two stages: Macon Manor and the Dixie Dew Drop. On the Macon Manor stage with the "Concerts After Dark" series both Friday, July 13 features Rhonda Vincent, Flatt Lonesome, Ralph Stanley II and Hogslop String Band and Saturday, July 14 features Rhonda Vincent with special guests, The Issacs, Newtown, Glade City Rounders, and The Cleverlys. On the Dixie Dew Drop stage, the Dew Drop Jamboree will feature the best in Classic Country both Friday and Saturday evenings.

Saturday evening, July 14, Uncle Dave Macon Days on the Macon Manor Stage for an historic appearance at 5pm, will be a record release celebration for -- "Bluegrass Legends Live at the Ryman" including Rhonda Vincent and the Rage with Mac Wiseman, Jesse McReynolds, and Bobby and Sonny Osborne. All have performed at Uncle Dave Macon Days as Heritage Award winners: Mac Wiseman, 1997, Rhonda Vincent, 2006, Jesse McReynolds, 2007, and Bobby and Sonny Osborne, 2008.

Other family-oriented events taking place throughout the festival include: heritage activities for children, mouth-watering local concessions, a juried arts and crafts show in Matilda Macon's Artisan Village, Dave Macon's Marketplace, and a historic photo exhibit. Along with the lively festival competitions and the National Championships in music and dance, Saturday evening promises to be one of the best highlighting the talent who have made Uncle Dave Macon Days a success for the past 41 years. The celebration takes place in Cannonsburgh, a genuine pioneer village. Cannonsburgh Village is located at 312 South Front Street in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Murfreesboro is 30 minutes southeast of Nashville on Interstate 24. The village is home to more than 20 restored log structures and will feature living history demonstrations during the weekend. Visit a working blacksmith or join in with some old-fashioned shape-note singing in the little white church.
