New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Sister Hazel hosted their Fourth Annual Camp Hazelnut at Camp Crystal Lake outside Gainesville, FL October 19 - 21, 2018. The camp provides an uplifting experience for youth and families navigating the overwhelming challenges of cancer diagnosis. Over the three days around 175 campers from all over Florida, including 30 families of kids with cancer, embarked on a great exploration to discover (or rediscover!) the magic that can only be created at summer camp.
The band was proud to partner again this year with Wyc Grousbeck, CEO, Governor, and co-owner of the
Boston Celtics, and
Emilia Fazzalari to make the experience even more special for children and their families.
This year brought even more fun for the children, band, and families with the addition of a water carnival on Sunday that included a inflatables, water slides, dunk tank, cotton candy, sno-cones, popcorn, and face painting. The Lyrics for Life luau on the beach also returned featuring a
Sister Hazel "Sunset Acoustic" performance. Each child at camp received a special gift bag including
Sister Hazel merchandise, a tumbler cup donated by MyBevi, and an iPad courtesy of Wyc Grousbeck and
Emilia Fazzalari. Everyone feasted on delicious food donated by Bluewater Bay.
Camp Hazelnut is part of the Lyrics for Life Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Sister Hazel frontman, Ken Block, and his band mates founded Lyrics For Life in memory of Ken's younger brother Jeffrey, who ultimately lost his four-year battle with cancer that started at age 14. Jeffrey and his memory continue to change many lives.
