New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Hollywood Records) Acclaimed blues-hop singer ZZ Ward and Delta Rae have announced a co-headlining tour to kick off in Denver, CO on January 29, 2013. Opening the show will be British slide guitar prodigy,
Martin Harley.
Ward's unique blend of swampy blues and hip-hop has been drawing critical praise since the release of her Eleven Roses mixtape and continues with her debut, full-length album, Til The Casket Drops, which showcases her songwriting prowess as well as her remarkable voice which Rolling Stone called "chill-inducing." Ward's unique smoky rasp embodies the blues greats who have inspired her, but it's the hip-hop flavor that adds a bold freshness to her musical artistry. "Her unapologetic blend of hip-hop, blues and pop paired with smoky vocals could make this singer a star," exclaimed USA Today. After a recent performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, her foot-stomping single "Put The Gun Down" shot up the alternative charts at iTunes and Amazon. Currently in the middle of her first headlining tour, including sold-out dates in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Denver and Nashville, Ward's gritty blues-soaked, hip-hop inspired repertoire explodes live as her dynamic vocals captivate with a force prompting the Chicago Tribune to declare, "So what are you waiting for? Go hear her."
It's been a wild couple months for six piece rock band Delta Rae. Their debut album, Carry The Fire, came out this past June (iTunes) and to celebrate, Delta Rae performed their single "Bottom Of The River" on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno. The show liked them so much, they invited them back for round two last night. In between Leno trips, the band performed on Conan, were featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" and selected by Rolling Stone as an "Artist To Watch" for their Women Who Rock campaign. RS flatteringly compared Delta Rae to their favorite band of all time, claiming "If Fleetwood Mac came up in North Carolina, they might resemble Delta Rae." They've been championed by VH1, who selected them as their "You Oughta Know" Artist for October, USA Today, who premiered their new video for "Dance In The Graveyards," KCRW, Billboard, Forbes and ELLE among others. Live is where Delta Rae truly flourish. The band recently sold out headlining gigs at Bowery Ballroom in NYC, The Independent in San Francisco, The Troubadour in LA and in their hometown of Durham, NC at the 1,000 capacity Carolina Theatre. The band tours relentlessly and will be traversing across the country for the foreseeable future.
Opener Martin Harley is an internationally acclaimed slide guitar player and songwriter with a deeply important and respected voice in the evolution of popular blues music. Martin is marking his U.S. debut with the release of his brand new solo album Mojo Fix on 60/20 Records, now available at iTunes. The album comes on the heels of celebrating a #1 album on the iTunes UK blues chart last year with his UK-based acoustic trio, the Martin Harley Band, for Drumrolls for Somersaults. Martin recently released his single of the same name, "Mojo Fix," to radio, which has garnered him an impressive amount of Adds and excitement and is already approaching the top 40 on the national Triple A Radio chart.
The combination of these uniquely dynamic artists will create a live musical experience not to be missed.
