LISBON, Portugal (Top40 Charts) - The 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards aired live on Thursday from Lisbon, Portugal. Green Day and Coldplay were big winners, each with two awards. Also, Madonna stole the show with the first live televised performance of her new single "Hung Up", emerging from a giant glitter ball wearing purple leather boots and matching leotard!
The event also featured the presentation of the Free Your Mind humanitarian award, which was given to Live Aid and Live 8 founder Sir Bob Geldof by Madonna.
