Al Di Meola Inks Licensing Deal With New York Theatre Production
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Innsbruck Records) Virtuoso Al Di Meola inked a deal with the Manhattan Theatre Club with his composition, "Azzura." The instrumental, "Azzura," from Di Meola's album "The Infinite Desire" (Telarc 1998) is being used in a world premiere play by Liz Flahive and directed by Leigh Silverman starring Seth Clayton, John Ellison Conlee, Edie Falco, Brooke Ashley Laine, Heidi Schreck, Frances Sternhagen, Phoebe Strole and Christopher Evan Welch.

Four-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie," The House of Blue Leaves, "The Sopranos") returns to the New York stage in the world premiere of "THE MADRID" by Liz Flahive (From Up Here).

Falco stars as Martha, a kindergarten teacher with a life many desire: a loving husband and a devoted daughter. But when Martha decides to leave it all behind, it's up to her daughter Sarah to pick up the pieces. Two-time Obie winner, Leigh Silverman (Chinglish, From Up Here, In the Wake) directs this hilarious and heartbreaking story about motherhood, freedom and trying to see the people in your family as they truly are.

Al Di Meola is currently recording an album of Beatles compositions at Abbey Road Studios in London and is planning an early spring release of "All Your Life" with an extensive European tour. Di Meola is one of the most prominent virtuosos and influential guitarists in the contemporary instrumental jazz field. "This project is a lifelong dream long overdue and immensely fulfilling!" Referencing how The Beatles influenced Di Meola, "The incredible innovation of production combined with clever harmonic and melodic beauty touched millions of hearts and souls way back when I was a kid to such an impact that it more than gracefully mastered the test of time and largely inspired my start in music. I'm happy to convey my love of this in my new interpretation of these great songs!" "There is no music in my lifetime that made as huge an impact on the world like that of the Beatles!"

Di Meola is recognized as a prolific composer over the last 30 years with 28 recordings as a leader. As noted in his bio, Di Meola's ongoing fascination with complex rhythmic syncopation combined with provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmonies have been at the core of his celebrated career.
