American Standards: The Top Of The Underground!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Whether by choice or happenstance, in 2013 American Standards remained as one if the largest underground bands yet to break the surface. The bands latest album, "The Death of Rhythm and Blues" however is sure to make the top 10 year end list of any hardcore, punk or metal DIY zine blogger. The albums stand out sound has earned them the spot on several large festivals sharing the stage with legends from GWAR and Danzig to bands of the moment such as Touché Amore, He Is Legend and Joyce Manor.

First bringing their unique knack for noise to the scene in 2010, these Arizona natives would be ear candy to any fan of bands like Refused, Every Time I Die, Gallows, The Chariot or The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their opt for a raw sound and intense live show provides the foundation for vocalist Brandon Kellum's thought provoking and almost philosophical lyrics. The energy that radiates from the stage keeps the crowd on edge and has proven to win favorable opinions despite preferential tastes in genre. It's hard to not back a down to earth band with the work ethic and passion to give back to community such as these guys. It's also that "don't take yourself so seriously" attitude that really sets them apart from other bands in the heavy genres.

American Standards' first album, "Still Life" was released with major label distribution through Victory Records (Sony/Red). The band toured the US extensively on the release building a national fan base and receiving acclaim from notable publications. With the follow up "The Death of Rhythm and Blues", the band opted to go back to their DIY roots releasing it independently online (ITunes, Amazon, Spotify) and in select stores. The band recently announced on their social media sites that they're back in the studio recording for a new EP due out early 2014 and hinted at backing from a yet announced international label.

To be a band in the scene today seems to entail the forever chasing of the proverbial carrot. It's our thought that American Standards will soon be the band holding that carrot as others follow in their path.
