American Supergroup Announces Season 1 Judges: Aloe Blacc, Elle King, Jennifer Nettles, Jason Scheff
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / American Supergroup) Barry Josephson, Executive Producer, announced the award-winning, multi-platinum judges for American Supergroup, the new music competition series premiering on Pop Oct 11 at 8/7c; MTV Live, Oct 13 at 8/7c and MTV Classic Oct 14 at 7/6c. The four judges, all singer/songwriters, are: pop/soul artist Aloe Blacc, rock/blues artist Elle King, country superstar Jennifer Nettles and classic rock icon Jason Scheff, lead singer/bass player for Chicago. iHeartMedia 104.3MYFM's Dave Styles is the show's host.

American Supergroup is a music competition program showcasing the creation and evolution of the best new band in the country. Guided by a panel of music experts, 25 finalists will be selected to form 5 groups of 5 members each -- best guitarist, best drummer, best bass player, best keyboards, and best vocalist. Musical genres can be, but are not limited to, Pop, Rock, R&B, Country, Hard-Rock, and Alternative. Audiences will interact with, and vote for, bands via social media platforms. The show is currently being filmed in Nashville, Tennessee at Skyways Studios and there will be 8 weekly one-hour episodes ending with a 90-minute finale on December 6.

Barry Josephson said: "American Supergroup is excited to announce a stellar panel of judges. Aloe, Elle, Jennifer and Jason are four brilliant singer-songwriters that bring tremendous expertise to the table. Audiences will connect with the elite group of gifted musicians who will be mentored by our team of judges and celebrity guests."

JUDGE BIOS
Aloe Blacc is a singer/songwriter who crossed over from the indie scene in 2010 with his hit single, "I Need a Dollar." He subsequently released his major-label debut album Lift Your Spirit on XIX Recordings/Interscope Records where it debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. The release followed Blacc's collaboration as vocalist and co-writer on well-known DJ/producer Avicii's 2013 track "Wake Me Up," a song that hit the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Hot Dance Club Songs and Dance/Electronic Songs charts, as well as topping charts in more than 100 countries. Blacc's single "The Man" topped the charts and sold more than 3 million singles. Blacc spent the summer of 2014 on a U.S. tour with Bruno Mars in support of Lift Your Spirit and made his acting debut in "Get On Up," the James Brown biopic. In early 2016, Aloe Blacc released "Let The Games Begin," which he wrote and produced for the film Race, a Focus Features biopic about Olympic hero Jesse Owens. Also at that time he teamed up with Grammy award winning artist/producer Zedd to co-write and record the smash single, "Candyman," used by M&M's to commemorate their 75th Anniversary. Aloe Blacc is now writing and recording for his next album release. To learn more about Aloe Blacc, visit AloeBlacc.com Twitter: @aloeblacc.

Elle King has taken the world by storm with the release of her Gold-certified debut album LOVE STUFF last year. Her hit single "Ex's & Oh's" was nominated for 2 Grammys and 2 Billboard Music Awards, was certified double platinum, and she made chart history, becoming the second female artist in 18 years to reach #1 at Alternative Radio, following Lorde's #1 with "Royals" in 2013. Her single also claimed the #1 spot on the AAA Chart, #1 at Hot AC, and #1 spot on theBillboard "Hot Rock Songs" with "Ex's & Oh's, becoming the 4th female led act/artist to top this chart in its 6 year history. Elle released the video for her single "America's Sweetheart" and performed "America's Sweetheart" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. She has received much critical acclaim — Jon Pareles of The New York Times described her as "a sassy, hard-drinking, love-'em-and-leave-'em hellion with bad tattoos and a broad pedigree across rock, pop and country. She has Adele's determination and Joan Jett's stomp, Brenda Lee's high-voiced bite and some AC/DC shriek." ElleKing.com Twitter: @ElleKingMusic

Jennifer Nettles is a Grammy® Award-winning Country superstar who released her sophomore solo album PLAYING WITH FIRE on Big Machine Records this spring. Highlights include the sonically stunning lead single "Unlove You" written with Brandy Clark; a collaboration with Jennifer Lopez called "My House," in addition to the catchy fan-favorite and new single "Hey Heartbreak." Nettles has become one of the most admired singer-songwriters in music today and throughout her career has won five ASCAP awards and received a Grammy® Award, ACM Award and CMA Award for penning the emotionally charged, #1 PLATINUM hit, "Stay." She was honored with the Crystal Milestone Award for being the first woman to be the solo songwriter on an ACM Song of the Year winner since 1972. Leading with her powerhouse vocals and vivacious energy, Nettles has performed with some of the industry's most iconic figures including Adele, Beyonce, Bon Jovi, John Legend, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and more. In 2015, the multi-talented entertainer made her Broadway debut as Roxy Hart in the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking musical Chicago and made her acting debut on NBC's critically-acclaimed and ratings success Coat of Many Colors, reprising her role in the sequel Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love this December. Nettles will embrace the season with a collection of joyful songs entitled TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, due out October 28, and holiday-themed tour. Jason Scheff is an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer. Born into a musical family, he is the son of iconic session bassist Jerry Scheff of Elvis Presley's world famous TCB Band. In 1985 Jason joined the veteran, multi-platinum selling pop-rock group Chicago as lead vocalist and bass player. In addition to performing the band's classic material, Scheff started his new membership with the group by singing one of the band's biggest hits "Will You Still Love Me" and also composed original songs including their Top 5 single "What Kind of Man Would I Be?." In 2016, Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Responsible for penning Boz Scaggs' comeback single "Heart of Mine" Jason's songs have also been recorded by Grammy- winning artists Carly Simon, George Benson, and many others. Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups, and one of the world's best-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 120 million records. Jason has also performed as a background vocalist with Elton John, Kenny Rogers, The Commodores, Julio Iglesias, Brittney Spears, Melissa Manchester, and Poison. A multi- instrumentalist, and accomplished producer, he plays keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums. He secured his first publishing deal in 1985. Warner Bros. discovered him when they were looking for songs and a collaborator for Peter Cetera's solo album. When Warner Bros. heard his demo, they felt he was a perfect candidate to take over for Peter Cetera with Chicago. JasonScheff.com Twitter @JasonScheff
