New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Congratulations to Burt Bacharach and
Daniel Tashian for their GRAMMY Award nomination today for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Blue Umbrella, their collaborative EP of original songs. Blue Umbrella was released July 31st on Big Yellow Dog Music.
The 63rd GRAMMY Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
Since the release of Blue Umbrella, Bacharach and Tashian have continued to write songs together and are releasing Blue Umbrella (The
Deluxe Edition) on December 4th, which contains two newly written and recorded collaborations.
Burt Bacharach is an eight-time GRAMMY Award winner (including the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award and 1997 Trustees Award), while
Daniel Tashian won two Grammy Awards as co-producer of Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour, and was nominated last year for his children's music album I Love Rainy Days.
Recorded in Nashville, Blue Umbrella features
Daniel on vocals and Burt on piano, backed by some of the city's finest musicians (Dennis Crouch, Fred Eltringham, Tom Bukovac, Jim Hoke). It was also engineered by GRAMMY-winning engineer Ryan Hewitt. Filled with rich, jazzy chords that underpin restless, dynamic melodies and graceful, understated lyrics, the EP is a true blend of the songwriters' personalities, sensibilities and spirits. While refusing to settle for nostalgia, Blue Umbrella cements Bacharach & Tashian as a 21st-century ampersand worthy of the Brill Building.
Tashian is also a part of two other GRAMMY nominations for this year. He co-produced three songs on the Best Country Album nominee, Nightfall by
Little Big Town, and he co-produced the track "All Is Found -
Kacey Musgraves Version" on the Best Compilation
Soundtrack for Visual Media nominee, Frozen 2.
