Gerard Singh Breaks Top 40 On Billboard Indicator Charts
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Malaysian songwriter and performer, Gerard Singh, hits number 40 on the Billboard Indicator Charts this week. Gerard becomes the first Malaysian-born artist on a Malaysian record label to achieve this monumental success. Only a few short weeks ago, the singer-songwriter released his debut single "Crazy", which has kept its rein on the charts. The single is now available on iTunes.

Hitting number 40 on the Billboard Indicator charts was a shocking moment for Gerard as he happily accepted his new honor and was humbled by the news. Gerard originally wrote the track in a darker headspace. Gerard says the song is "a reflection of having to deal with disappointment of not getting the support I want from the people, especially the ones closest to me, who I would expect the most support from". Contrasting that notion, this celebratory news marks a great achievement, not only for Gerard but for Malaysia as well. Scarce among the music charts is a Malaysian artist; however, Gerard has torn down the barriers as a Malaysian artist signed to a Malaysian based label to succeed with chart topping success. The Lakefront Recording artist, Gerard, is an inspiring story as he paves the way, as the only Malaysian born artist currently on the charts. Not only is he making his mark in the United States, but also is doing so while still living in Malaysia and working in conjunction with his Malaysian based record label. Gerard competed with the likes of Sia's "Chandlier", Sam Smith "Stay With Me", Taylor Swift "Blank Space" and many more.

With an all-star instrumental ensemble, complimented by his distinctive deep voice and simple rhythmic beats, "Crazy" is an addictive tune that captivates from start to finish. The track was produced by the Indiana based producer, Floyd "Timeless" Thomas who has produced over 12 Billboard-Charting singles. The string section was directed by Matt Jones and recorded in Chicago, while mixing was done by the talented, Rob Chiarelli, who has worked with numerous Grammy Award winning artists.

Gerard Singh is a regionally renowned singer, songwriter and musician, with an expansive and fruitful career that spans several decades. He initially created a buzz for himself in Malaysia playing smaller venues, which he eventually had bursting at the seams. Gerard was awarded the coveted solo category of "Top of the Pubs" competition of Carlsberg. Following that, he returned to the studio with a new direction in mind and soon after released his album, A Slice of the Pie, which received critical acclaim in the local markets. The album not only sold a great deal of units; it was also nominated for two awards at the 2005 Annual AIM Awards (Anugerah Industri Musik).

Lakefront Records, is an established record company based in Malaysia. Enamored with music and talent, CEO Bryan Tan founded the record label after his previous job as an audio engineer. The roster, including Gerard Singh, has since grown, and Lakefront Records has established their well-deserved reputation as one of the top labels in Malaysia.

Join the journey with Gerard Singh, as he represents Malaysia in his international mission to success. Grab the single, "Crazy" now on iTunes and be sure to follow him at Facebook.com/GerardSinghOfficial.
