Honolulu, HI (Top40 Charts/ Hawaii Music Awards) - The Hawaii Music Awards has named pop singer-songwriter Jobob Taeleifi as its 2010 New Artist of the Year. The 14th Annual Hawaii Music Awards ceremony will be held March 27 at the Sheraton Wakiki in Honolulu. Jobob's first single release 'Heartbreak Queen,' from his self-titled debut CD, has charted on Mediabase Pop Charts' Top 100 (www.mediabase.com) and is moving up weekly. The song also charted at No 3 on TweenPopRadio following Miley Cyrus and Owl City. Additional songs from the CD, 'Let Go' and 'New Generation,' have already been selected for placement in TV. Jobob is of Samoan descent and a portion of the proceeds from 'Heartbreak Queen' will go towards tsunami relief efforts in American Samoa.

At an early age Jobob was exposed to a broad range of Pacific Islander music through the Polynesian music festivals his father produced in Southern California. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist Jobob picked up guitar by age 13, later moving onto bass, drums, keyboards and ukulele. At 18 years old Jobob released his solo CD Jobob Taeleifi, recorded with producer Ebiut Cervantes that featured all original material (two songs co-written/arranged with Cervantes).

Jobob applies his musical efforts to help out wherever he can - participating in various relief charity concerts and recordings to assist rebuilding the Samoan islands devastated by the tsunami earthquake disaster this past September 2009.
