New York, NY (Top40 Charts) A deep bass voice meets a good looking tenor and instantly they knew they were from two different worlds. They also knew this new found fire wasn't going out. Callie Sioux had been a gal growing up on a ranch just outside of Ruidoso New Mexico and Jhett was the child of two peace loving hippies and was known to be the long haired skateboarding kid of Ruidoso. Well life sure does has a strange way of bringing people together and as many of you know firsthand music can certainly become the tie that binds. Jhett and Callie Sioux became a young married couple who were starting out with very humble beginnings. In the beginning they were basically just singing together and enjoying each other's company. Then in the midst of their time together they began to write story telling lyrics and their songs began to connect. They were writing and revealing regional snapshots of all sorts. So here they were just two young people having a good time being together and while the music they were creating was uniting their souls it was also creating a journey, a path forward. They soon realized that they had something unique coming together and so they sold all of their belongings and moved back into their car, a Honda Element. They did this to fund their first album and then after it was completed they decided to hit the road in that very car and take their CDs with them. Well when you think about it after all they were living in a car and it was indeed mobile. To date Jhett and Callie Sioux have performed over 800 shows at roadhouses and other places along the way that stretch up and down the highway from Ruidoso to Portland and back.
Gleewood is rather unique, unique in that they do indeed tour madly. Their goal is to be together while making their music along the way and seeing the country at the same time. So far it's working out great. Folks that see them perform remark that they have a playful way with each other on stage and this show of affection reminds them of famous musician couples of years gone by. It turns out that music through just two people singing together and enjoying each other's company would lead to writing together which led to recording together, and then through living in their car together they would go on the road and start performing together. While at the very same time all of this would be naturally, organically growing one heck of a fan base. They've actually taken stories from along the trail and turned them into songs. Songs that they penned about their travels, New Mexico history, and family heritage. After they would write them they would hone them in the roadhouses along the way. So it seemed logical that recording an album that included these songs could be a good idea so they gave it a whirl and the end result is nothing short of excellent.
There are two producers on the project: Klas Åhman, whose studio is in Roswell New Mexico and Richard Cagle out of Houston, Texas who most folks remember for doing the engineering work for Johnny Winter in Johnny's early years. Jhett and Callie Sioux have named their new release "Sweet, Sweet Time" and it will be available at all the popular online retailers plus of course at the many of Mom and Pop boutiques along the trail. Yep, you read that right. As they continue to travel the states and see record stores and various gift shops along the way they are going to stop in. Sometimes they will even do a set before moving on. When asked about how they feel about "Sweet, Sweet Time" they had this to say, "This collection of songs is a culmination of feedback from over 800 shows along the way.
