LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Golden State Music) - Los Angeles based troubadour Brandon Schott brought home a 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Award last night in the Acoustic / Folk category for his song "FIRE SEASON" (co-written with Chris Holcombe) from his new record "DANDELION" - now available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, eMusic and all major digital outlets. The Hollywood Music in Media Awards recognizes and honors the music of independent artists from around the globe. Both mainstream and independent artists are honored as peers for their compositions and recordings in all forms of media.

The Hollywood Music In Media Awards (HMMA) were presented Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at The Highlands in the world famous Hollywood & Highlands / Kodak Theater complex in Hollywood, CA. This red-carpet event featured live performances, award presentations, a VIP reception and banquet dinner.

Brandon will celebrate his win along with the release of "DANDELION" with a very special evening of entertainment to benefit the I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, the nation's leading grassroots advocate for young adults affected by cancer. Dandelion's 13 tracks, recorded in a local Glendale church over three months, span the one year anniversary of Brandon's own personal diagnosis, treatment and recovery from a stage three germ cell tumor. With the love and support of his family and community, he's proud to be sharing this very special night featuring special guests, a silent auction, door prizes, drink specials and more.

"Turning Toward the Sun: A Benefit For Young Cancer Survivors" will be held at Molly Mallone's (575 South Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles CA) on December 18, 2009 at 7:00PM. Tickets will be $10 dollars at the door and in advance (with FREE entry for young adult cancer survivors and patients) and proceeds will benefit i[2]y.
