James Blunt's North American Tour Begins April 20th In Boston; 'Some Kind Of Trouble' Lands On January 18, 2011
NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Custard/Atlantic recording artist James Blunt has announced a flurry of TV appearances surrounding the release of his hugely anticipated new album. "SOME KIND OF TROUBLE" - which includes the infectious hit single, "Stay the Night." The new album arrives in U.S. stores and online retailers this Tuesday, January 18th.

The five-time Grammy-nominated troubadour will herald the album's release with a run of high-profile TV appearances, kicking off on Friday, January 14th with an interview on Access Hollywood Live followed on Monday, January 17th with a live performance on NBC's The Today Show, and the next morning, Tuesday, January 18th, with a performance on CBS' The Early Show. From there, Blunt will perform on the Monday, February 7th installment of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as the Wednesday, February 9th episode of the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show. As if that weren't enough, that same night will see the British singer/songwriter sitting down for a one-on-one interview on E!'s Chelsea Lately (check local listings).

Blunt will kick off his world tour in Glasgow in February and will tour the UK and Europe before returning to the U.S. on April 20th for the first date at Boston's House of Blues (see attached itinerary). Pre-sale tickets for the North American leg of the "SOME KIND OF TROUBLE TOUR" will be available to fans beginning Tuesday, January 18th, with all remaining tickets then going on sale to the general public beginning Friday, January 21st. Supporting Blunt on all dates will be his Atlantic Records labelmate, Christina Perri.

Written by Blunt with Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and award-winning songwriter/producer Steve Robson (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Take That), "Stay the Night" is looking like yet another smash for the British-based singer/songwriter. The single's companion video is already in rotation at VH1, where Blunt recently appeared on the network's popular morning show, Jump Start Live. The clip is also poised to enter the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown, with Blunt slated to appear as the week's featured guest on Saturday, January 15th.

What's more, "Stay the Night" has quickly earned high praise from critics. "James Blunt may be known for 'You're Beautiful,'" declared Rolling Stone, "but 'Stay the Night' is a jaunty, upbeat folk-rock track that recalls the Waterboys or Van Morrison more than the song that made him famous." "James Blunt is done singing about heartbreak for now," noted Billboard. "The Englishman... is simply ready to have some fun on 'Stay the Night.'"

Indeed, "SOME KIND OF TROUBLE" finds Blunt in a delightfully upbeat frame of mind, capturing the talented tunesmith's newfound sense of spontaneity and excitement. Produced by Robson (with additional production from The Bird & the Bee's Greg Kurstin, and Eg White), the album - which follows 2007's acclaimed "ALL THE LOST SOULS" - marks a new chapter for Blunt, who sees his internationally successful first two albums as a kind of matched pair - action and reaction.

"The second album was quite introverted," he says. "It was about perception. But these new songs are not about fame and celebrity - they're about reality. I've been hanging out with my friends, writing songs about the world we live in, and where we want to go."

With global album sales now at a staggering 19 million, James Blunt is without question among the most gifted and successful singer/songwriters of his generation. He first captured the world's attention in 2005 with his 2x RIAA platinum-certified debut, "BACK TO BEDLAM," which featured the history-making No 1 classic, "You're Beautiful." "ALL THE LOST SOULS" followed two years later, debuting atop the album charts in 10 countries and earning unanimous critical acclaim for such hits as "1973" and "Same Mistake."
