NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ By Tiffany Shipp/ Sunshine, Sachs & Associates) - John Mayer celebrated two wins at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, bringing his career total to seven. In the two years since the release of his last studio album, Continuum, Mayer has continued working on various side projects, which were recognized Sunday night.

Mayer won in the categories of Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Say," a song he wrote for the Rob Reiner directed film co-starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. He also won for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "Gravity" from his long-form live performance DVD entitled WHERE THE LIGHT IS which was directed by Danny Clinch and released by Columbia Records in the summer of 2007.

"As I get older, I become more and more thankful to have a place in the music world, and it's an amazing honor to be recognized for my work."

With over 14 million albums sold worldwide, Mayer is currently at work on his fourth studio album, tentatively titled BATTLE STUDIES.

In May 2007, Time Magazine placed John Mayer on their Time 100 list of the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers. For two consecutive years, Rolling Stone Magazine featured John Mayer on the cover of their annual "Guitar" issue - 2008's "Living Guitar Legends" issue and 2007's "Guitar Heroes" round-up.

From rock to blues, hip-hop to jazz to country, Mayer has paired with a range of artists and his collaborative streak is well-known. He has performed and/or recording with artists such as Eric Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Burnett, Herbie Hancock, Dixie Chicks, Kanye West and Alicia Keys among others. In 2005, Mayer famously toured and recorded with power players Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan as the John Mayer Trio, whose live album TRY! featured searing blues and rock.

The guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has now earned seven Grammy Awards and sold nearly 14 million albums worldwide. Since his acclaimed debut in 2001 with Room For Squares, through 2003's Heavier Things, to his work with the John Mayer Trio in 2005 through CONTINUUM, John Mayer has established himself as a musician and collaborator who exceeds genre boundaries.
