Santa Fe University Of Art And Design Faculty Member Luke Dorman Receives Top Award At New Mexico Music Awards For Album Art
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) Graphic Design and Digital Arts Department contributing faculty member Luke Dorman was awarded Best Packaging Design at the New Mexico Music Awards in June for the album cover he designed for David Berkeley's "Cardboard Boat."

Dorman, who is also a 2003 BFA in Studio Arts graduate, worked collaboratively with Berkeley to design not only the album art, but also the art for the accompanying book, "The Free Brontosaurus" (Rare Bird Books, 2015), a novella with 10 short stories about characters who are also represented by a song on "Cardboard Boat."

His work with Berkeley was highly collaborative, Dorman said.
"The work we did on the character design fed the work we did on the album art and vice versa. We had to give each piece its own identity, but also allow them to have very clear and overt overlaps in stylistic and thematic content. It was a very open and organic process that doesn't come along often enough professional practice. Not only was the experience itself rewarding, but the work we created as a result felt deeply personal for both of us, which made this recent recognition by the New Mexico Music Awards all the more meaningful."
