Soundbreaking Nominated For News & Documentary Emmy Awards
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) SOUNDBREAKING: STORIES FROM THE CUTTING EDGE OF RECORDED MUSIC, one of the most wide-ranging series on the art of music recording and the last project of renown music producer Sir George Martin, has been nominated for a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Music and Sound.

SOUNDBREAKING is presented by Higher Ground in association with the late Sir George Martin, and produced and directed by Emmy and Peabody Award®-winning filmmakers Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupre of Show of Force. The eight-episode series combines unprecedented access to some of the most celebrated artists, producers and innovators from across the music spectrum, with rare archival studio footage and an extensive soundtrack. SOUNDBREAKING made its U.S. broadcast debut on PBS in November 2016, and has been broadcast extensively around the world.

"Music is the only common thread and universal language that binds us together regardless of race, nationality, age or income. And recorded music is how we experience it and what makes it accessible," Sir George Martin said of the project prior to his passing.

SOUNDBREAKING has also been recognized with a Critics' Choice Documentary Award Nomination for Best Limited Documentary Series, a RealScreen Awards 2017 Nomination in Non-Fiction - Arts & Culture, and was an Official Honoree in the 21st Annual Webby Awards in Social Music. The News & Documentary Emmy Awards are presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The series features more than 150 exclusive and original interviews with such luminaries as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Roger Waters, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, B.B. King, Annie Lennox, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Nile Rodgers, Q-tip, Brian Eno, Linda Perry, Rosanne Cash, Don Was, Steven Van Zandt, Ben Harper, Beck, Darryl McDaniels, RZA, Bon Iver, and more.
