STUDIO CITY, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Studio City Sound) - Tom Weir, owner and founder of Studio City Sound (SCS), has been honored with a Grammy nomination for engineering and mixing Toots and The Maytals' 2007 release "Light Your Light," along with producer Richard Feldman.
Weir, a Grammy award winner in 2004, has made his mark in the industry as an engineer, mixer and producer. He is known for his ability to push the envelope, blending cutting-edge digital technology with custom-made Inward Connections Buss Mixers, Neve, API, UREI, Tube-Tech, Chandler Limited, Empirical Labs, Drawmer, Crane Song, Summit Audio, ADR, DBX, Lexicon, AMS, Apogee, Alan Smart, Avalon, and Manley outboard gear.
Weir has mixed for numerous successful and recognized artists, including No Doubt, Willie Nelson, Weezer, Tom Morello, Brian Setzer, Blondie, Rooney, Phantom Planet, Eric Clapton, Michael Damian, Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, and many more.
SCS enjoyed one of their busiest years in 2007 continuing into early 2008, working with a wide variety of music, television and movie clients such as Andreas Carlsson (songwriter/producer for artists such as Britney Spears, Celine Dion, N'Sync, Bon Jovi, etc.), Max Morgan (with producer Marc Tanner/Chime Entertainment), Chuck Negron, Howie D, Natasha Beddingfield, Danielle Brisebois, Slank, The Nelson Brothers, Josh Freese, Neil Peart, Buddy Miles, Vertical Horizon, Gene Simmons, Tim Pierce, Joe Bonamassa, and the cast of the hit musical, "Wicked."
Recently, SCS has been utilizing their ISDN capabilities to record live broadcasts such as NPR's World Cafe, (featuring Frankie Valli, Mo'Nique, American Music Club).
SCS has also completed post production services (including ADR, voice-overs, dialogue tracking, music production) for many notable television shows commercials and movies, such as: Shred (Tom Green and Dave England), Bitten (Jason Mewes), Moondance Alexander (Lori Laughlin and Kay Panabaker), U.S. Army (Gary Sinise), and L'Oreal (Heather Locklear). SCS also works regularly for NBC (Scrubs), CBS (Bold and the Beautiful, Young and the Restless), ABC (General Hospital, Donal Logue with Knights of Prosperity), and MTV (Parental Control).
One of Studio City Sound's most visible projects, the soundtrack/5.1 score mixing and ADR for the 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment feature film, "Moondance Alexander," was completed in 2007.
