The Recording Connection Congratulates Jake Kiyokane On Winning Pensado A.I.R. (Best Assistant, Intern Or Runner) Award
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Second annual Pensado Awards took place on Sunday, August 30, 2015, held by the team behind Pensado's Place to recognize the "faces behind the sound"

Los Angeles, California, September 2, 2015 - The Recording Radio and Film Connection (RRF), a network of unique educational, instructional and mentorship programs developed for aspiring media professionals created in 1983, is proud to announce that Jake Kiyokane, a recent graduate of The Recording Connection's apprenticeship program, took home the A.I.R. (Best Assistant, Intern or Runner) Award in the second annual Pensado Awards. The Pensado Awards were conceived and organized by the team behind Pensado's Place, the acclaimed weekly web series known as the most influential show for audio engineers, mixers and producers. The winners in 16 categories were announced at the live ceremony, which took place on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios.

Kiyokane entered The Recording Connection's bachelor-equivalent program in February 2014 and completed the program requirements, going on to study in the advanced program, graduating fully from both in May 2015. Following that, he mentored under Cameell Hanna and Steve Catizone at Los Angeles-based Serenity West Recording, where he now works as an assistant engineer.

Also nominated were The Recording Connection graduates Michael Messina and Paul Ramirez.
"Our apprentices continue to make us proud, and Jake's win is a special honor for him and everyone at The Recording Connection," stated Brian Kraft, RRF Chief Academic Officer/COO. "He and the other nominees are true talents, and they are all bound for big things moving forward."

Pensado's Place co-hosts Herb Trawick and Dave Pensado founded the Pensado Awards to "recognize the faces behind the sound." From the self-taught basement amateur to the seasoned industry producer, all manner of music professionals are discovering new methods of working and novel ways to reach fans. The awards highlight the brilliance and hard work of all those producers, songwriters, DJ's, engineers, mixers, live wizards and behind-the-scenes technicians in audio that often go unnoticed. The Pensado Awards unites the best pros, amateurs, brands and press to come together as one community to celebrate the uncelebrated.

The second annual Pensado Awards was co-hosted by prominent TV personality, producer and musician Randy Jackson (American Idol, Journey, etc.) and producer-engineers Chris Lord-Alge (Muse, Pink, Foo Fighters, Avril Lavigne, Green Day, Daughtry, Paramore, Black Eyed Peas), Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Young Guru (Jay Z, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey) and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails, others). Presenters included such figures as Quincy Jones, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Al Schmitt and over a dozen other prominent figures in the recording industry. Music was curated by acclaimed turntablist and Beastie Boys collaborator Mix Master Mike.
