New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On Wednesday morning (Nov. 27), hours after tweeting out a cryptic message about starting a "brain melting psychotic chapter, Weeknd dropped his new song "Heartless"! Featuring a dark, sleek instrumental, the new track finds Weeknd being exactly what the title of his new song implies as he croons on about women, money, drugs and more.
On the new track, Abel Tesfaye, aka the Weeknd, sings about searching for deeper meaning and "trying to find the one that can fix me," but flings and drugs continue to leave him numb. "'Cause I'm heartless/And I'm back to my ways 'cause I'm heartless," he sings on the atmospheric R&B-tipped track. "All this money and this pain's got me heartless...Said I'm heartless, tryin' to be a better man, but I'm heartless."
The song's been out for less than an hour, but it's safe to say that fans who wanted to hear Weeknd talk that talk got exactly what they wanted.
Also, the Weeknd unveiled "Blinding Lights" in the Apple Music radio show Memento Mori on Tuesday night, and it lives up to its name with the sort of glitzy neon '80s pop pastiche that first took him to the top of the charts. But wait, there's more! Another new song, the Metro Boomin'-produced "Heartless," has been unveiled with it.
Weeknd hasn't dropped a new project since March 2018's My Dear Melancholy EP, and he hasn't dropped a new album since 2016's Starboy. Back in April, he joined Travis Scott and SZA on a Game of Thrones soundtrack song called "Power Is Power."
