Montclair, NJ. (Top40 Charts/ Music Resource Group) - Music Resource Group, publisher of The Musician's Atlas, has announced the winners of the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMA). This year, the program introduced the Music Video category and Val Emmich nabbed the award with 'The Only One Lonely.'

Fellow nominees included UK musician Skitchy, Barcelona's The Pinkertones and Astonish Records act No More Kings. The Winners of The Independent Music Awards were chosen by a celebrity and industry judging panel that included Mania TV's Stefan Goldby, MTV Music Supervisors Carrie Hughes and Jose Cuello, Activision Worldwide Music Executive Tim Riley, Snoop Dogg, Suzanne Vega, Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith and Rolling Stone Contributor Anthony DeCurtis.

'The Only One Lonely' appears on the acclaimed album SUNLIGHT SEARCHPARTY, which Emmich self-released after parting with Epic Records in late 2006. The heart-warming video was directed by Matt Schuman of Freshhead Films and combines live action with animation.

This is not the first time the power duo of Emmich and Schuman has seen success. Schuman directed Emmich's debut music video for 'Shock,' off his first full-length album, SLOW DOWN KID. It was featured at LA's Hype Fest, Toronto's NEXT Festival and MTV.com. They teamed up again for the 'Privacy Attracts a Crowd' video, which aired on MTV's 'Advance Warning' and 'Total Request Live.' It remains the only video by an unsigned artist to ever appear on TRL.

New Jersey native Emmich also recently had on-screen success by guest starring on the hit NBC television show, '30 ROCK.' Frank, one of the show's characters, went 'gay for Jamie' the coffee boy, portrayed by Emmich. The storyline spurred media frenzy garnering coverage from blogs to national press like Entertainment Weekly.
Expect more of the same in 2008 when Emmich appears on several episodes of the soon-to-debut Lucy Liu show, 'Cashmere Mafia.'
But don't think Emmich is trading in the stage for the screen. He's currently putting finishing touches on a new record deal and will release an album in Spring '08, which will coincide with a full USA tour.
