New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Leisure And Cultural Services Department) - Hong Kong based Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra will perform "Symphony in 'E'", composed by its music director Dr Yip Wai-hong, at a concert featuring violinist Kim Hye-Jin in May. Under the baton of guest conductor Lio Kuok-man, the orchestra will play "Symphony in 'E'", and will also perform Sibelius' "Violin Concerto in D Minor" with Kim.

Dr Yip is well-known as a music pedagogue and conductor, but he has also been composing music for 55 years. In this concert, he will revisit his "Symphony in 'E'", published in 1990 as an expression of his observations on people who strive for world peace.

Winner of the 2009 Concert Artists Guild International Competition and the 2004 Yehudi Menuhin International Competition, Kim Hye-Jin entered the Curtis Institute of Music at 14 and received her Bachelors degree there. She obtained her Masters degree at the New England Conservatory as a recipient of the Emma V. Lambrose Presidential Scholarship.

The Korean-born violinist has collaborated with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and Hanover Chamber Orchestra. She plays a 1687 Gioffredo Cappa violin.

Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra is a highly organised orchestra that aims to promote music among the public, especially the younger generation, in Hong Kong. The orchestra has performed frequently with a number of internationally famous conductors and soloists in Hong Kong over the past 30 years. By using the idiom of popular music and organising concert talks, the orchestra has successfully introduced serious music and Chinese orchestral music to the public, and, at the same time, brought about an awareness of the indigenous culture of the people.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Symphony in 'E'" will be held at 8pm, May 22 (Saturday), at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall.
