Ella Mai Throws Shade At Jacquees Over Trip
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On Tuesday, singer-songwriter Ella Mai posted a message in which she called out an artist who was so irrelevant he/she had to rely on other people's material:
"i'd be so embarrassed if someone brung me on stage and the only thing i could sing was someone elses song because nobody knew my actual music. poor thing," she tweeted.

While she didn't mention names, it didn't take long for fans to connect the dots and realize that she was talking about Jacquees. During Drake's "Assassination Vacation Tour" at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday night, Tory Lanez brought out Jacquees to perform his controversial remix to Ella's "Trip" during his opening set.

Jacquees released his "Quemix" to the song on YouTube and SoundCloud back in September. It became a fan favorite and racked up millions of streams before it was pulled due to a copyright claim from Ella's label 10 Summers.

Mustard, who produced the song and owns 10 Summers, called out Jacquees for profiting off "Trip." "When you monetize content you don't own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers," he tweeted. "Ella had no say in the matter and any platform reporting any differently is spreading falsities."

Speaking to Hot 97's "Ebro in the Morning" in October, Ella denied that she was personally responsible for the song's removal. "I don't play any role. My label made a statement… I don't want people to think different than the actual situation is," she said. "People don't really know the real ins and outs of the industry."

Despite the controversy, the self-proclaimed "King of R&B" claimed there was no love lost. "It's all love at the end of the day. I ain't trippin'," he told "The Breakfast Club" in December.
