He is also the son of actress Sophia Loren and film producer Carlo Ponti. Here are a few other sides of Carlo you might not know.

The Interpreter: Carlo prefers to be called an interpreter rather than a conductor and explains, 'My craft is to make a musical masterwork come to life by breathing into it a very precise interpretive concept.'

The Green Thumb: Carlo loves to garden at his Encino, Calif. home and keeps a vast array of bamboo species and tropical plants.

The Father: 'My greatest and most challenging goal is to achieve balance, both in my musical interpretations and in my life. I always strive to find enough time for my family even if my work sometimes demands otherwise.'

The Actor: Carlo made a cameo in Vittorio De Sica's 'Sunflowers,' playing the son of his mother Sophia Loren when he was six months old.
