"Striking" And "Infectious" (BBC) Nicola Benedetti Wields Her 'Silver Violin'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Violinist Nicola Benedetti continues her streak of high-profile performances and international accolades in 2013, with her new Decca album 'The Silver Violin' out now in the United States. 'The Silver Violin' - which features the Korngold Violin Concerto as its centerpiece and celebrates violin music from great film scores - was the first solo instrumental album in decades to top the U.K.'s classical charts and enter the Top 30 pop charts.

The success of 'The Silver Violin' - named U.K. iTunes "2012 Best Female Classical Album of the Year" - is just the latest achievement in 25-year-old Benedetti's distinguished career, which the Metro U.K. describes as "the reward for a singular talent honed by a life of dedication."

• In 2012, Benedetti was named Classic BRIT "Female Artist of the Year," on the heels of performances at the Ryder Cup closing ceremony, the Royal Variety Show in front of the Queen, and on Rod Stewart's U.K. Christmas TV special, alongside luminaries such as David Foster and Michael Bublé.

• 'The Silver Violin' performed better than any other classical album released in the U.K. in 20 years, making Benedetti the best selling British soloist since Nigel Kennedy released 'The Four Seasons' in 1991.

• With her 1717 Gariel Stradivarius violin, Benedetti has performed with acclaimed orchestras worldwide, including the London Symphony, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Deutsche Symphony Orchestra-Berlin, Japan Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic and more.

• Benedetti supports Sistema Scotland's Big Noise project, a music-education initiative partnered with Venezuela's El Sistema. In recognition of such charity efforts, Benedetti was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire at the U.K.'s New Year Honours 2013.

• Other accolades include winning the 2004 BBC "Young Musician of the Year" competition, catapulting Benedetti to fame and helping her secure a record deal with Universal Music Group (Deutsche Grammophon and Decca). She later won the 2008 "Young British Classical Performer" and 2012 "Female Artist of the Year" Classic BRIT Awards.
