Nashville, TN - Hit songwriters Liz Hengber and Thom McHugh have signed with Blacktop Music Group, Inc. for exclusive publishing, it was announced today by company vice-president and general manager Mike Sebastian. Between them, Hengber and McHugh have an impressive array of hit titles cut by some of country's biggest selling and most successful artists.
Hengber has penned four No 1 hits for Reba McEntire, including 'For My Broken Heart,' 'And Still,' 'It's Your Call' and 'Forever Love.' She also wrote the No 1 songs 'Unconditional' by Clay Davidson and 'The Bride' by Trick Pony.
'I have had the pleasure of working with Liz Hengber off and on over the last 15 years and she continues to amaze me with her songs,' Sebastian said. 'Liz is an incredibly talented and professional hit writer who doesn't just write songs, she writes copyrights that stand the test of time.'
Likewise McHugh comes to Blacktop with his own impressive track record. Some of his songwriting credits include: 'It Won't Be Over You' by Steve Wariner; 'This Is Me' by Randy Travis; 'You Can't Lose Me' by Faith Hill; 'Life Goes On' by Little Texas; 'Holdin' Heaven' by Tracy Byrd; 'More' by Trace Adkins and 'Don't Happen Twice' by Kenny Chesney.
'I've always had a lot of respect for Thom McHugh and his songwriting and I can't tell you how excited I am to finally have the opportunity to work with him,' said Sebastian. 'Thom is one of the most commercial writers in town. He's written 17 singles, nine of which reached top five or higher on the charts and four went all the way to No 1. He's a seasoned pro who has been responsible for a lot of hit songs. I'm thrilled to announce he's joined the Blacktop Music Group writer roster.'
Blacktop Music Group was formed five years ago by multi platinum artist/writer Clint Black, music business manager Charles Sussman and veteran music publisher Sebastian. To date the publishing company has scored the No 1 hit 'Some Beach' by Blake Shelton and currently has the Billy Currington single, 'Must Be Doing Something Right,' written by Blacktop's Marty Dodson and EMI/Songfighter's Jason Matthews.
