Nashville, TN (Asylum/Curb Records) - Platinum selling country music entertainer Clay Walker recently spent some studio time recording the 'duet of a lifetime' with legendary music icon Freddy Fender. Walker and Fender cut a remake of the chart-topping 'Before The Next Teardrop Falls,' the first-time Freddy has ever recorded the song with any other artist. 'It was the most amazing thing, to be in the studio with Freddy and have him enunciate and make the Spanish in the song just ring,' says Walker. 'I learned so much from him and the music we made was just magic!' Freddy Fender's major breakthrough came in 1974 when his recording of 'Before The Next Teardrop Falls,' topped both country and pop charts. He followed it with a gold record for 'Wasted Days And Wasted Nights,' and another cross over smash 'Since I Met You Baby.' Between 1975 and 1977, he had nine songs in the top 10 on the country charts. Fender was named 'Most Promising Male Vocalist' by the Academy of Country Music in 1975. The Country Music Association named 'Before The Next Teardrop Falls' as Single of the Year that same year. The duet of 'Before The Next Teardrop Falls,' will be on the forthcoming Clay Walker album on Asylum/Curb Records.
