NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ RCA Records) - Clint Black will release The Love Songs, a fresh set of some of his most memorable love songs, today (Jan. 30th). Tune in to Dr. Phil on Valentine's Day for a special live performance by Clint and Lisa Hartman Black of their Grammy-nominated duet, "When I Said I Do." (Check local listings for air times). This classic is part of the 12-song collection to be released on the Equity Music Group label just in time for Valentine's Day.

According to the artist, many of the songs remain true to the original version, while a few get a slight update. "I wanted to do a record that's not just a reissue of hits," Black explained. "Sometimes when I go back and revisit my older recordings, I find little things that, in hindsight, I feel I could improve on just a bit-some new twist that might make it just a little bit better. It might be a slight change in the arrangement, or the way vocals are layered. And there were also times when I listened to a particular recording and felt there really wasn't a change that would make it better."

"Clint has positively affected so many people's lives and relationships with his love songs, we thought it would be appropriate to put them all on one CD, and have it out in time for Valentine's Day," said Equity president Mike Kraski.

The CD will include some of Black's most popular and memorable recordings, including "Something That We Do," "My Imagination" and "Half The Man." This collection of love songs will also feature one non-Black-penned song, Jim Croce's classic "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song."

" I'm a huge Jim Croce fan, so it was a natural for me to include his song in this collection," Black explained. "I was trying to find my own voice in this cover, but it is hard to get away from that original Croce sound, which is so good. While his is more of a rolling, finger pickin' style, my version has a slower groove-more of an R&B style."

The cover artwork for The Love Songs also gets special treatment-the artist chose to use an original Peter Max painting of Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black as the cover.

Additionally, a new full-length album of original songs is forthcoming later this year. For more information on Clint Black, please visit www.clintblack.com.
