David Garrett Comes Full Circle With Legacy
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Decca Label Group) David Garrett comes full circle with his new classical recording of Beethoven and Kreisler, Legacy, to be released June 5th on Decca, along with stand-alone concert DVD Legacy Live. Both represent David's successful dual career, bridging his crossover repertoire with his classical career that began at age 9 when played his first symphony concerts, to later signing a deal with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label at 14. Landing at #1 on the top of the UK's classical chart, Legacy also achieved platinum status in Germany, where it was impressively the highest debut on the Pop Chart for a classical instrumental recording since the inception of that chart in 1962.

David comments, "The Beethoven violin concerto is the ultimate masterpiece of the violin repertoire. It is every violinist's dream to record this work once in his life. I consider it a great honor to be able to play Beethoven's violin concerto accompanied by a magnificent orchestra and a wonderful conductor. This is the fulfillment of a personal goal for me."

Media around the world have embraced Garrett, despite frequent disapproval of other artist's classical crossover attempts. Germany's Musix aptly commented, "Why should the bow-beau have to decide between classical music and crossover, as he is well capable of doing both?" The UK's Daily Telegraph recently wrote, "such eminences of classical music as violinist Itzhak Perlman and conductor Zubin Mehta are happy to endorse the quality of Garrett's playing.... Garrett's pin-up qualities haven't hindered his progress as a popular violin icon." Upon releasing his last album Rock Symphonies,USA Todaydeclared he was"on the edge of stardom in the USA," while The Los Angeles Times described him as a "captivating champion of the right of rock and classical music to share chords." Billboard called Rock Symphonies "technically dazzling."

Winning over audiences since the release of his self-titled debut album in June 2009, Garrett has also had two successful PBS specials, supported by sold out headlining concerts across the U.S. His TV appearances include some of the biggest shows in America including "Dancing with the Stars," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," The Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox News Channel, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and CBS Saturday Early Show, among others. His road to America began when he fled Germany for New York City as a teen, and spontaneously auditioned and was accepted to the world famous Juilliard music school, studying under the legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman. Perlman said of Garrett, "He is a wonderful violinist with excellent technique and natural musicianship. He will always perform with artistry." As a young student, Garrett also earned extra cash by moonlighting as a busboy and model, landing him in the pages of Vogue and the Fashion Week catwalks for Armani.
