(NYSE:DLB) and PT MelOn, a joint venture between SK Telecom of Korea and PT Telkom of Indonesia, today announced that the online music service, MelOn Indonesia, will utilize Dolby Media Generator to encode mobile and PC music downloads into the highly efficient Dolby Pulse format.

MelOn Indonesia, a digital music service offering consumers subscription-based music downloads for mobile devices and PCs, joins Omnifone and Rhapsody in utilizing Dolby Media Generator to encode its digital music libraries. Dolby Media Generator is a set of tools enabling content owners, aggregators, distributors, and operators to format content for mobile and online delivery and playback. MelOn Indonesia will encode its music library into Dolby Pulse, a format that combines the efficiency of High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE AAC) with Dolby's proven quality and audio expertise.

Dolby Media Generator is a software solution for the generation and delivery of digital content to multiple devices and platforms across both fixed and mobile networks. It is able to encode audio content in the highly efficient Dolby Pulse format with excellent audio quality at a low bit rate of 48 kbps and can deliver quality audio at bit rates as low as 24 kbps in a single audio format for online and mobile use.
