New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Los Angeles based musicians, Frank Simes & Steve Cooke, have launched their new band THANK YOU, an acoustic and symphonic tribute to guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist
Robert Plant from the English rock band Led Zeppelin.
Simes and Cooke bring together the magic and sophistication of the original Page and Plant "No Quarter" concerts.
Frank Simes is a Grammy-nominated artist who is no stranger to the international stage. As The Who's multi-instrumentalist and musical director, and lead guitarist and MD for
Roger Daltrey, his knowledge of English rock music is second to none. He was also the MD, guitarist, and co-writer for Don Henley, and recorded and performed with Mick Jagger, Stevie Nicks, and Rod Stewart, to name a few world-class artists he has worked with.
Steve Cooke is a Grammy voting member, multi-award-winning musician, and lead actor of professional musicals, including Godspell, New York Broadway's Hair, and a rendition of The Who's Tommy. He has recorded and performed with
Adam Lambert (Queen/American Idol), Monte Pittman (Madonna), Phil X (Bon Jovi), Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty), and many other international artists.
Simes and Cooke bear a striking resemblance to Page and Plant, and the visual experience is also brought home musically by Cooke's uncanny ability to sing Plant's powerful vocals and Simes's incendiary playing that echoes the flair, punch, and nuance of Page's guitar parts. "It's wonderful that we can celebrate their lasting legacy", says Cooke.
The band comprises renowned bass guitarist Jamie Hunting, who also toured with
Roger Daltrey, guitarist Gratz Arias, and a string quartet from Los Angeles. Simes and Cooke's first performance was at the 2016 Hollywood
Music in Media Awards (HMMA) show at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood, where Steve Cooke was also nominated for Best Rock Song. The band performed to an audience of over 1,000 music fans, and to international music and media industry professionals, including select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), The Television Academy, AMPAS
Music Branch, NARAS, performing rights organizations, film music journalists, and music executives.
Two live videos of Simes and Cooke's performance at the HMMA Awards show have just been released: "
